Key takeaways

  • IV vitamin therapy delivers vitamins, minerals and fluids directly into a vein; it's an invasive medical procedure, so suitability is screened by a doctor first.
  • For most healthy people eating a balanced diet, routine IV vitamins aren't medically necessary — a point clinicians and independent health bodies make plainly.
  • It may be considered for people with a diagnosed deficiency or malabsorption, under medical guidance — not as a substitute for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Risks are real (see below): vein irritation, infection, bruising, and, rarely, fluid overload or allergic reaction.
  • Soul IV's infusions are doctor-screened for suitability and administered by AHPRA-registered nurses, mobile or in-clinic.

IV therapy is an invasive procedure with risks; our nurses assess your suitability first.

What is an IV vitamin infusion?

A registered nurse places a small cannula and administers a fluid containing selected vitamins, minerals or amino acids over roughly 30–60 minutes. Because the nutrients enter the bloodstream directly, they bypass digestion — the reason some people are told IV can achieve levels oral supplements can't for specific clinical needs. What's in your infusion is decided with you after screening.

Is an IV vitamin infusion worth it? Who it may suit

Honesty first: for most healthy adults with a balanced diet, IV vitamins are not medically necessary, and oral intake is usually sufficient — independent health bodies say so, and we won't tell you otherwise. IV vitamin therapy may be worth discussing if you have a diagnosed deficiency or a condition affecting nutrient absorption, always under medical guidance. Who should be cautious or speak to a doctor first: people with kidney or heart conditions, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with a relevant allergy, and anyone on medication that could interact. Our screening exists to work this out with you — and to say "not this time" when that's the right answer.

The risks, stated plainly

IV vitamin therapy is an invasive procedure. Possible risks include vein irritation or inflammation (phlebitis), bruising, infection at the cannula site, and — rarely — fluid overload or an allergic reaction. This is why every client is screened by a doctor for suitability and cared for by an AHPRA-registered nurse. If an infusion isn't right for you, we'll say so.
