IV infusion therapy at a glance
- IV infusion therapy delivers fluids, vitamins and minerals directly into a vein, administered by an AHPRA-registered nurse.
- It is an invasive medical procedure with risks — every client is screened by a doctor for suitability before any infusion.
- Available mobile (we come to you across Melbourne and Victoria) or in clinic (Ground Floor, 420 Spencer St, West Melbourne).
- Your infusion is discussed and confirmed at your appointment, following screening — not a fixed, one-size-fits-all drip.
IV Infusion Therapy
What is IV infusion therapy?
IV infusions deliver essential vitamins, minerals and fluids directly into your bloodstream, administered by our AHPRA-registered infusion nurses. Because it bypasses the digestive system, the contents of your infusion enter your bloodstream directly.
What goes into your infusion is confirmed with you at your appointment, after a doctor has reviewed your health information for suitability. IV therapy is an invasive medical procedure and carries risks — it isn't right for everyone, which is why screening comes first.
How IV infusion therapy works
After a doctor reviews your health information for suitability, an AHPRA-registered nurse inserts a small cannula and your infusion runs through a drip over your appointment. Your nurse stays with you throughout, and gives you aftercare advice before they leave.
Who IV infusion therapy is — and isn't — for
IV infusion therapy isn't necessary for most healthy people, and it isn't a substitute for medical care, a balanced diet or advice from your GP. Suitability is decided at screening; if you have a medical condition, take regular medications, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us so the reviewing doctor can consider it. If it isn't right for you, you won't proceed.
Risks and what to expect
IV therapy is an invasive medical procedure. Possible risks include discomfort, bruising or bleeding at the needle site, inflammation or irritation of the vein (phlebitis), infection, fluid overload, and — uncommonly — an allergic reaction. This is why every client is screened by a doctor for suitability first, and monitored by a nurse throughout.
